Media Mojo Marketing
Audio & Video will Rank on Google's First Page so you can
position yourself as an expert in your field.

For more than 30 years I've been involved in public relations and marketing. In the late '90s  I began working online. In the past few years, I've figured out how to use audio, video and social media to get your message on Google's first page. It's not magic. It's not real easy. But it is possible to jump over your competitors, if you do a few simple things. You might need to learn some new tricks, but even for old dogs, it's not unrealistic. Below are a few pieces of the social media puzzle. Five, to be exact. While there are more, they are the basis of establishing yourself online. Read over the page. If you'd like to know more, let me have your email address. If you have questions, my email address is below. If you want to see what I've been up to, Google: blogtalkradioguy.

Below:

BlogTalkRadio show with Dr. Ron Capps and guest Marc Harty talking about online PR. Dr. Capps is in Western Missouri. Mr. Harty is in California. I'm in Miami. We connect via a computer in New York. The potential audience is global. The show is recorded, archived and available via iTunes.

This is a Cinchcast widget.

This video was produced using images and video taken with a Blackberry phone and emailed to me. The auto was recorded using cinchcast.com. I mixed the images, video and audio, and added music. Once rendered as a .wmv file, it was uploaded to several video sites. The video appeared on Goggle's first page within 2 hours for event-specific keywords.

Have you noticed online marketing has changed? It used to be sufficient to have a website, period.

Not today. Not with social media expanding rapidly. Now, you need a minimum of five elements to compete effectively.  They all  require new, and frequent content. And, it has to be good content or visitors will be gone in the blink of an eye. Or, more appropriately, the click of a mouse.

The goal of search engine marketing is to be ranked on the first page of Google - in the top 10 - since Google has 65+% of the billion+ searches done each day. While all search engines are important, but it's best to be indexed by Google before trying to tackle any of the others.

It is possible to rank in the Top 10 without knowing anything about meta tags, although your chances improve if you learn what they are and how to use them. But, I've found you can 'talk your way to the top' by doing a BlogTalkRadio show. And, you can find yourself on page one with a video, if you submit it to several sites, in addition to YouTube.

Here are my suggestions of the five things you need:

  1. Website: It doesn't have to have Flash, in fact it's indexed better if it doesn't. But, it does need to look current and have a clean design with easy navigation. A website is where you send people to learn about your product or service.

  2. Blog: This is an easy way to create content. A headline. A few sentences. A couple of tags. A couple of categories. Audio. Video. Pictures. Wordpress and Blogger are free. Wordpress is a little more work, but the results are worthwhile.

  3. Micro-blog:: This is a quick communication tool. Twitter is the best known, but there are others. In 140 characters you have to make your point and create a call to action. When you add Twitpic and Twitwall, you have a powerful combination.

  4. Audio: It used to be difficult, and expensive. Now, its easy and its free. Blogtalkradio (podcast) and Cinchcast (mini-podcast) are from the same company and enable you to 'talk your way to the top.' You have to have something worthwhile to talk about if you want to have repeat listeners, but you don't have to do it all by yourself. You can have guests, or play recordings. Google doesn't evaluate the content, yet, so just having a show helps you work your way from obscurity. Twalk (conference call) is a new service in beta. It should be fully functional soon. Together, you have the tools to talk your way to the top.

  5. Video: This is the weapon of choice if you really want to be indexed by Google, and other search engines. You don't have to produce documentaries or even short films. YouTube caps the length at 10 minutes, suggesting that is the maximum attention span of the average viewer. You want to be in the 3 to 5 minute range, if you have something of value. If not, 60 to 90 seconds works fine. You can use Animoto to convert digital images and music to video, then upload to YouTube from their platform, as well as link to Twitter, Facebook and other social sites. If you know how to use an audio editing software, you can add voice to the soundtrack, increasing effectiveness considerably. Video from Windows Movie Maker is OK. From Sony Vegas Movie Studio, much better. You can even use software that produces an Avatar hustling your product or service for you, if you think that will work. Many videos are, essentially, Powerpoint presentations, so you can create a video with text and simple graphic, if you choose.

If you don't want to do the work yourself, you can hire someone, like me, to develop and manage your social media campaign, including the 5 steps above.
